The Modern Tarot Deck

Tarot cards are the ultimate connection of art and meaning. Each card tells an essential and thorough story through only images and color.

This deck is for the modern, tech-focused generations. Each card reminds them to put down their screen and focus on the world around them. The deck is based on the original Rider–Waite–Smith Tarot designs to promote a connection to the past and the present.

The Fool

Meaning: Beginnings, freedom, innocence, originality, adventure, idealism, spontaneity

Reversed: Reckless, careless, distracted, naive, foolish, gullible, stale, dull

The Fool depicts a young man walking joyfully on his phone. He is taking his first steps, and he is exuberant, joyful, and excited. Because he is naive or unaware, he will soon topple over the cliff that he is reaching. It is up to your own interpretation if the man should be more aware of his surroundings or if he should enjoy what he sees on his phone in the moment.

The Magician

Meaning: Willpower, desire, being resourceful, skill, ability, concentration, manifestation

Reversed: Manipulation, cunning, trickery, wasted talent, illusion, deception

This card depicts a “gamer” or someone with a large computer setup. The person has their hands up in joy as if they just won a game using their skills and willpower.
The gamer is encouraging you to tap into your full potential without hesitation.

The Lovers

Meaning: Love, unions, partnerships, relationships, choices, romance, balance, unity

Reversed: Disharmony, imbalance, conflict, detachment, bad choices, indecision

In the Lovers card, the couple seems secure and happy in their home, one looks out towards the world and the other is on their phone. The couple in the image is being protected and blessed by the angel of technology above. The angel’s blessing gives the card a sense of balance and harmony, reminding lovers to have a balance between their screens and each other.

Wheel of fortune

Meaning: Change, cycles, fate, decisive moments, luck, fortune, unexpected events

Reversed: Bad luck, lack of control, clinging to control, unwelcome changes, delays

The center of the card is a spinning buffer symbol with many “angels” lounging around it. The buffer wheel turns evermore, seemingly to communicate that life is made up of both good and bad times, and that the cycle is one that we cannot control. When you have good moments in your life, make sure that you enjoy them to the fullest, and not wait for the screen to load to miss out on other moments.

The Tower

Meaning: Disaster, destruction, upheaval, trauma, sudden change, chaos

Reversed: Averting disaster, delaying the inevitable, resisting change

The Tower card depicts a TV monitor on top of a tall bookshelf. A lightning bolt strikes the TV, which causes it to fall and two people to try and catch it. They want to fix the inevitable damage the crash will cause. However, the crash must happen in order to clear out the old ways and welcome something new. Its revelations can come in a flash of truth or inspiration.

The SUn

Meaning: Happiness, success, optimism, vitality, joy, confidence, truth

Reversed: Blocked happiness, excessive joy, pessimism, unrealistic expectations, conceitedness

The Sun is the source of all the life on our planet, and it represents life energy itself. The sunshine is translated into the light from a computer screen, which illuminates the smiling man. This card is a reminder that the only light we get cannot be from our screens, and we need to feel the light from the sun in the world around us.
